"I Will Call Them Knaves Of Clubs No More"

September 11th 1645 The surrender of Bristol, to Fairfax's Parliamentarians. Prince Rupert his officers and men were allowed to leave with a convoy to guard him against the country people, the “Clubmen”, who detested him for the cruelties he had permitted, and threatened revenge.

A reference in  Cromwelliana. (The Annals of Bristol in the Seventeenth Century).By John Latimer has the quote with an account on the Clubmen's part in siege of Bristol. "I Will Call Them Knaves Of Clubs No More"
